Mr.
Woo Yee Saik, Consultant
Mr.
Woo Yee Saik has been involved in Training and Education for
over twenty-five years, and runs workshops and seminars to help
customers develop practical skills in the areas of leadership,
management and communication.
Academic
Background: Language, Literature and Educational Processes
He holds a Teacher’s Certificate from the Ministry of Education,
and in 1987, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Universiti
Sains Malaysia, where he read English and Literature. In 1991
he pursued his postgraduate studies at the University of Bath,
United Kingdom, on a British High Commissioner’s Award under
the Chevening Scheme, and graduated with a Master’s Degree in
Education Management.
Professional
Experience
Saik has worked in various institutions and organizations in
different capacities, starting initially as a schoolteacher
in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. After university,
he joined the International School of Penang, Uplands, where
he rose to the position of Head of English and Drama as well
as Head of Senior School Pastoral Care. He left the schools
sector in 1993 to work at Disted College as its Marketing and
PR Manager.
From there, he became Training
Manager at Sony Mechatronic Malaysia for three years before
joining Robert Bosch Malaysia in 1998 as its Recruitment and
Employee Welfare manager. During his time working in both these
multinationals, Saik was actively involved in the design and
delivery of customized in-house leadership and communication
training programmes for all levels of staff, and was also a
certified trainer for external programmes like FranklinCovey’s
7 Habits of Highly Effective People®, DDI’s Interaction
Management and Targeted Selection and Blanchart’s Situational
Leadership II.
Saik’s outgoing nature and keen
interest in learning and communication processes continue to
be the mainstay of his approach to training, and this has been
noted by many participants who have attended his programmes.
Affiliations
He is a founder member of the Kiwanis Club of Georgetown and
also serves as HR advisor to the Penang Heritage Trust. He is
quite involved in the arts scene in Penang, and until quite
recently was on the management committee of the Penang-YTL Arts
Festival, an annual showcase of local and international arts
events. In 1985 he founded Newscast, the talking newspaper for
the blind in Malaysia, under the auspices of the St Nicholas
Home for the Blind, and has continued to serve as its chief
editor ever since.
